Case Details

Disease Location

Pituitary gland

Personal Characteristics

14 -year-old male

Clinical Characteristics

Fifth day after admission, MRI found cystic pituitary lesion with slight suprasellar exteion cyst content was homogeneous and slightly hyperintense relative to csf on t1-weighted, and hyperintense on t2-weighted a small nodule appeared isointense relative to the brain on t1, and hypointense on t2 with the cyst. Enhancement was observed in anterior and posterior sites relative to the cyst with gadopentetate dimeglumine

Remission Characteristics

A week later, headaches disappeared, 3 months later, MRI found lesion had significantly decreased in size becoming just a small round hyperintensity in the pars intermedia region. At 6 and 12 months follow-ups, pituitary size was normal

Treatment & Mechanisms

Proposed Remission Mechanisms

Fluid in the cyst might have been resorbed or the cysts ruptured
