Case Details

Personal Characteristics

60-year-old woman

Clinical Characteristics

Left breast mass and nipple retraction, 6.5 x 6.5 centimeter central breast mass with skin fixation, peau d’orange, palpable ipsilateral axillary and supraclavicular adenopathy, malignant pleural effusion, bone metastases

Remission Characteristics

Spontaneous complete remission for 72 months

Clinical Treatment

Irradiation to a dose of 5,000 rad over 5 weeks to the breast and regional lymph nodes, treatment with an investigational antiestrogenic agent, therapy with tamoxifen

Additional Notes

The patient did not receive any form of hormonal manipulation or systemic chemotherapy. The patient failed to return to our clinic for follow-up and initiation of systemic therapy. No therapy was sought or received from other physicians or cancer treatment centers.
