Case Details

Personal Characteristics

60-year-old woman, had an abdominal hysterectomy without oophorectomy 15 years before the development of the breast mass

Clinical Characteristics

Retraction of the areola of the left breast, a 6.5 x 6.5 centimeter central breast mass with skin fixation, peau d’orange, and nipple retraction, two 1.5 x 1.5 centimeter palpable axillary nodes, a 1 x 1 centimeter node in the left supraclavicular area, left pleural effusion, lytic metastases in the eighth and ninth right ribs

Remission Characteristics

No evidence of a pleural effusion on chest x-ray film, lytic metastases of the ribs showed definite evidence of healing, remained free of metastatic disease

Clinical Treatment

Received radiation therapy in a dose of 5,000 rads in five weeks to the left breast and regional lymph nodes

Additional Notes

The patient did not receive any form of hormonal manipulation or systemic chemotherapy. The patient did not receive any further therapy after radiation. The patient did not agree to have any further tests done.
