Disease Location
Pleura, vertebrae, ribs, iliac bone,
Personal Characteristics
5-year-old male
Clinical Characteristics
He had a mild contusion of the left anterior thorax, and two days later, he felt left thoracic distress. Left pleural effusion was suspected on a chest x-ray radiograph. The left pleural effusion and thickening of the left pleura were confirmed on computed tomography (CT). Osteolytic lesions in the thoracic vertebrae, ribs, and iliac bone and numerous subcentimeter masses in the spleen were observed. The patient was suspected of gotham–stout disease.
Remission Characteristics
He patient’s symptom of left thoracic distress resolved spontaneously, and the findings of the left pleural effusion decreased within a few months by chest x-ray radiograph without treatment. Sclerotic changes appeared in the osteolytic lesions of the ribs after 4 years of follow-up, while the osteolytic lesions of the vertebral body and iliac bone remained unchanged, with an overall benign course
