25-year-old primigravida

Clinical Characteristics

A healthy boy (3274 g, apgar score of 9 at 1 min) was delivered by vacuum extraction with uterine fundal pressure. She had a severe postpartum hemorrhage, clinical examination sug- getting hemorrhagic shock. Uterotonic agents being ineffective, she was managed by placement of an intrauterine balloon tamponade device. Ultrasonography showed heterogeneous echogenicity in the uterus. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a rupture on the lower left side of the uterus. Incomplete uterine rupture was diagnosed.

Remission Characteristics

Three months later, a hysteroscopy revealed healing of the uterine rupture with scarring
