Anterior segment of upper right lung

Personal Characteristics

42-year-old female

Clinical Characteristics

Peripheral nodule observed in anterior segment of upper right lung-- interpreted as benign tumor of lung (during a pregnancy) baby delivered by c-section diameter of tumor a months later was 2/3 of size found 3 mths prior cells of moderate size with elongated nuclei neoplastic cells did not secrete mucus when examined via alcian blue-pas technique

Remission Characteristics

6 mths post operation the x-ray findings normal and patient id well

Treatment & Mechanisms

Proposed Remission Mechanisms

Circulatory disturbance in area of tumor, possibly from pulmonary embolism could be a explanation disappearance of odema after pregnancy may also play a role in diminished tumor size

Clinical Treatment

Antituberculous chemo tried for 6 mths w no success tumor tracked for 7 years after which upper lobectomy performed
