Personal Characteristics

4 mths old female

Clinical Characteristics

Admitted at age 3 months, for tachypnea, poor feeding, inadequate increase in body weight precordial bulge noted, grade 3/6 systolic regurgitant murmur & grade 2/6 diastolic rumble heard at apex chest x-ray film showed enlargement of left atrium, left ventricle, pulmonary artery with cardiomegaly 2-d ecg revealed cardiac tumor in lower ventricular septum after mitral valve replacement, nodule seen at site of left ventricular wall--> histogram revealed cardiac rhabdomyoma

Remission Characteristics

Serial 2d echocardiography revealed tumor reduction 2 mths post-surgery & disappearance of tumor after 6 mths

Treatment & Mechanisms

Clinical Treatment

Treated with digitalis & diuretics in outpatient clinic cardiac catheterization & angiocardiography performed at 14 mths mitral valve replaced by prosthesis at 18 mths
