Clinical Characteristics

Entered the hospital because of recurrent chest pains. In 1964 an adenocarcinoma of the rectum had been found, and a colostomy was performed. The physician’s notes said that tumor tissue remained in the perineum and throughout the abdomen

Remission Characteristics

At autopsy an acute and an old myocardial infarction were demonstrated. However, careful examination of the entire abdomen, the liver, and all organs and sur faces revealed no evidence of carcinoma.

Proposed Remission Mechanisms

Redirection of fecal excretion eliminated the hypothetical carcinogenic agent necessary for the development and continued growth of the tumor.
