Kidney
Personal Characteristics
74-year-old male, history of dm, double coronary bypass, dvt, pe, prostate adenoma, hiatus hernia and chronic renal failure. Biopsy showed nodular glomerulosclerosis with a morphological substrate of diabetic nephropathy
Clinical Characteristics
Presented with anasarca, weight gain and decrease in the frequency of diuresis. A week before he had developed very itchy petechiae on his arm and the back of his hands.
Remission Characteristics
Subsequent outpatient follow-up showed analytical changes and the patient has not presented new episodes of fluid retention.
Treatment & Mechanisms
Proposed Remission Mechanisms
He had developed cutaneous lesions on his upper limbs. This process could have been triggered by an immune mechanism, leading to an increase in glomerular permeability and, subsequently, severe with spontaneous remission some months later
Clinical Treatment
For parkinson's: carbidopa/entacapone/levodopa, ropiniroleand rasagiline for fluid retention: diuretics, irbesartan, atenolol, statins andoral anticoagulants
