Abstract

2014 ESC Guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of aortic diseases: Document covering acute and chronic aortic diseases of the thoracic and abdominal aorta of the adult. The Task Force for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Aortic Diseases of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

Personal Characteristics

37 years old morbidly obese female

Clinical Characteristics

After car accident, significal subcutaneous emphysema, multiple fractures on her left ribs and pulmonary contusion. Cerebrospinal fluid draining from the right ear and pelvic fracture. Small splenic tear and two mesenteric tears. Laparotomy was performed. Aortic tear was demonstrated after surgery.

Remission Characteristics

Before hospital discharge, aorightogram demonstrated improvement of the large lower thoracic intimal lesion of the aorta. 12 weeks after the injury, both intimal injuries of the aorta were totally healed.
