Abstract

A case in which the complete absorption of both a cataractous lens and its anterior capsule 29 years after development of the toxic cataract is reported. The patient was able to regain 20/20 corrected vision in spite of amblyopia of such duration.

Married woman aged 45

Clinical Characteristics

Complete absorption of both a cataractous lens and its anterior capsule 29 years after development of the toxic cataract, mature complete cataract in the left eye with no synechia, quiet eye, symptom-free, visual acuity was 20/20 in the right eye and limited to light perception and projection in the left eye, total aphakia, fine, dust-like particles on the anterior face of the vitreous, tension in the left eye within normal limits

The patient was able to regain 20/20 corrected vision in spite of amblyopia of such duration

Clinical Treatment

Presbyopic lenses were prescribed, reexamination was performed on june 11 and september 29, the pupil was widely dilated with 10% phenylephrine (neo-synephrine)

The eye has remained symptom-free to the present date
