Case Details

Disease Location

Pancreas

Personal Characteristics

13-year-old boy

Clinical Characteristics

Upper abdominal pain and nausea after being hit in the abdomen with a soccer ball. Us showed a clearly demarcated hypovascular round mass approximately 50 mm in diameter in the head of the pancreas. CT demonstrated a partially enhanced encapsulated mass with cystic components and calcification, and there was no evidence of invasion to the surrounding organs or vessels. We determined that the tumor was highly likely to be solid pseudopapillary tumor (spatient)

Remission Characteristics

Six weeks later, an abdominal CT showed that the mass size had decreased to 43 mm in diameter.

Treatment & Mechanisms

Proposed Remission Mechanisms

Continued degenerative changes, including minor hemorrhage due to trauma, necrosis, and absorpatiention

Clinical Treatment

Initial management for acute pancreatitis
